Basketball Recap: Centerville's Loss Ends Seven-Game Winning Streak at Home

Centerville entered their contest against Wells on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Centerville Bulldogs took a 75-69 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wells Pirates. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (68), the Bulldogs still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Centerville lost, don't look at Jake Slaten. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 28 points and 18 boards. Slaten is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. Wyatt Clede was another key player, going 8 of 12 on his way to 18 points and seven boards.

Centerville's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-4. As for Wells, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Centerville will square off against Martinsville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Centerville knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matchups -- so hopefully Martinsville likes a good challenge. As for Wells, they will take on Broaddus at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
