Softball Game Preview: McMahon Senators vs. Stamford Black Knights

McMahon is 1-9 against Stamford since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Senators will be playing in front of their home fans against the Black Knights at 4:00 p.m. McMahon has given up an average of 13.5 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Saturday, McMahon needed a bit of extra time to put away Torrington. They had just enough and edged out the Raiders 21-20. The Senators' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Isabella Spagnuolo and Gabby Bisignano did most of the damage at the plate: Spagnuolo fired off three home runs, three stolen bases, and five runs while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances, while Bisignano fired off three home runs, five runs, and five RBI while going 4-for-6. With that strong performance, Spagnuolo is now averaging an impressive 2.3 runs per game. Ali Colistra was another key player, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: McMahon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2025.

Meanwhile, Stamford faced West Haven in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Black Knights' pitchers stepped up to hand the Blue Devils a 5-0 shutout.

The victory made it two in a row for McMahon and bumps their season record up to 2-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.5 runs over those games. As for Stamford, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
