V Section III recap November 19, 2013
Thatcher and Joy Christian played the closest game in V Section III this week, with Thatcher eventually emerging with a 42-41 victory. Heath Motes threw for 221 yards and 4 touchdowns and ran for 130 yards during the win.
The Eagles made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,185 from 3,760. The improvement was the result of a 42-41 victory over the Eagles last week.
5-foot-11 quarterback Motes of Thatcher is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,398. He has also thrown 15 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Spencer Schuller. The Bisbee star has 38 catches for 714 yards.
Dave Jefferies' team led the league in scoring this week by notching 42 points on Joy Christian. Motes ran for 130 yards in the win.
