Basketball Recap: Caney Creek Takes a Loss

Caney Creek lost against Willis back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Caney Creek Panthers took a 71-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Willis Wildkats. The Panthers just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

Willis got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was SJ Young out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. Young has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last five times he's played. Chandler Beasley was another key player, going 6 of 14 en route to 15 points and five steals.

Caney Creek's record is now 5-20. As for Willis, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-9.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing The Woodlands the next time they take the court. Willis will host The Woodlands at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Caney Creek will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on January 21st.
