Volleyball Recap: Thornridge Falcons vs. Bloom Blazing Trojan
Thornridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Bloom Blazing Trojan. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blazing Trojan this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 on May 1st.
Thornridge started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The match finished with set scores of 25-27, 25-18, 25-16.
Ty'Ron Holcomb paced Thornridge's offense, picking up nine kills. Holcomb got some help from Orlando Gutierrez and his 17 assists. Aryein Goodwin and Colton Cobbins kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.
Thornridge's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Bloom, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-10 record this season.
Thornridge will square off against Kelly at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Bloom does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
