Basketball Recap: Bay Mills Ojibwe Charter Comes Up Short

Bay Mills Ojibwe Charter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were dealt a 53-23 loss at the hands of the Mackinac Island Lakers. Bay Mills Ojibwe Charter was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-9.

Mackinac Island was led to victory by Lakelyn Bunker and Madison Gamble. Bunker dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 boards, while Gamble posted 26 points in addition to seven steals and five boards. Bunker's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Bay Mills Ojibwe Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Mackinac Island, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

While Bay Mills Ojibwe Charter had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday.
