Softball Recap: Green Sea Floyds Triumphs

Green Sea Floyds lost to Georgetown back in March, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Trojans had just enough and edged out the Bulldogs 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Trojans have posted since February 26th.

Maci Collins was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mk Strickland, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Blair Elliott also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

The victory snapped Green Sea Floyds' losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-6 record. As for Georgetown, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.

Looking ahead, Green Sea Floyds will square off against Marion at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Georgetown, they will take on Dillon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
