South Laurel barely beat Estill County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cardinals never let the Engineers get on the board and left with a 7-0 win on Friday. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by seven runs or more this season.

Kenzie Williams made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

In other batting news, R Bretz was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run. Morgan Jackson was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

South Laurel has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Estill County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Laurel will venture away from home to challenge Corbin at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Estill County, they will head out to face off against Madison Southern at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Engineers will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.
