Basketball Recap: William Monroe Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

William Monroe won the last time they faced Turner Ashby and things went their way on Friday too. The William Monroe Dragons enjoyed a cozy 67-49 victory over the Turner Ashby Knights. Given the Dragons' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while the Knights are ranked 213th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

William Monroe pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Turner Ashby, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8.

Coincidentally, William Monroe and Turner Ashby will both be playing Broadway the next time they take the court. William Monroe will head out to face Broadway at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, while Turner Ashby will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
