Basketball Game Preview: Fairport Red Raiders vs. Gates Chili Spartans

The Fairport Red Raiders will head out to face off against the Gates Chili Spartans at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Fairport's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Last Wednesday, Fairport didn't have quite enough to beat Penfield and fell 79-76. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (62), the Red Raiders still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Gates Chili beat Spencerport 68-64 on Wednesday. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Rangers are ranked 360th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The victory made it two in a row for Gates Chili and bumps their season record up to 7-3. As for Fairport, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-2.

Everything came up roses for Fairport against Gates Chili when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 75-42 win. In that contest, Fairport amassed a halftime lead of 41-16, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
