Basketball Recap: Basalt Falls Despite Big Games from Luke Williams and Zealand Lane

If Basalt was feeling good fresh off their 68-47 takedown of Moffat County last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Basalt Longhorns received a blow on Friday as they fell 57-43 to the Steamboat Springs Sailors. The Longhorns haven't had much luck with the Sailors recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Zealand Lane and Luke Williams certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Lane went 7-for-12 to rack up 15 points and five boards, while Williams went 7-for-13 on his way to 16 points. Basalt is 2-1 when Lane posts 15 or more points, but 6-7 otherwise.

Basalt's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Steamboat Springs, their victory bumped their record up to 6-12.

Basalt has already played their next contest, a 58-45 loss against Coal Ridge on the 8th. As for Steamboat Springs, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-29 defeat against Aspen on the 8th.
