Basketball Game Preview: Archbishop Hoban Knights vs. Midview Middies

The Archbishop Hoban Knights will be taking part in a tournament against the Midview Middies at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in Archbishop Hoban's favor as the team sits on 15 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Midview has been banged up by ten consecutive losses on the road.

Last Friday, Archbishop Hoban lost to McKinley on the road by a 78-64 margin.

Despite their defeat, Archbishop Hoban saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Sam Greer, who went 6-for-8 on his way to 12 points and three blocks, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Deron Jennings, who went 6-for-13 to rack up 14 points.

Meanwhile, Midview was able to grind out a solid victory over North Olmsted on Saturday, taking the game 59-49. The Middies haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Archbishop Hoban better keep an eye on Brady Newton. He was instrumental in Midview's win, dropping a double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds. They are 3-1 when Newton posts ten or more boards, but 0-18 otherwise. Cody Martin was another key player, putting up seven points along with six assists and six rebounds.

Midview's victory bumped their record up to 3-19. As for Archbishop Hoban, their loss dropped their record down to 17-5.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Archbishop Hoban has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.8 boards per game. However, it's not like Midview struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25.9 rebounds.
