Basketball Recap: Sweetwater Takes a Loss

Sweetwater came up into this matchup off a tough 41-point loss last Monday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Chula Vista Spartans by a score of 58-56 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Red Devils have suffered since December 5, 2024.

Chula Vista got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Giovanni Contreras out in front who posted 24 points. Elijah Gillespie was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Sweetwater's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 14-13. As for Chula Vista, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season.
