Gulfport has gone 9-1 against West Harrison recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Gulfport Admirals will be playing at home against the West Harrison Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. Gulfport will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
Gulfport is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They took a 14-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of Baker on Saturday. The Admirals have struggled against the Hornets recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Thomas Stennis
Gulfport got a good showing from Thomas Stennis, who tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Stennis also tossed a walk, which is notable because Gulfport is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-2 otherwise.
At the plate, Gulfport got a big performance out of Anderson Hage, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was James Van Slyke, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Even though they lost, Gulfport kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, West Harrison didn't have quite enough to beat St. Patrick on Saturday and fell 5-3.
Ryan Seymour spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits.
On the hitting side, West Harrison saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reece Parker, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Cameron Sandel also deserves some recognition as he stole his first stolen base of the season.
West Harrison's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Gulfport, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
West Harrison's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Gulfport has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for West Harrison, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will Gulfport keep running through batters, or will West Harrison buck the trend?
Gulfport took their victory against West Harrison in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 7-1. Will Gulfport repeat their success, or does West Harrison have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
