Softball Recap: St. Mary's Takes a Loss

St. Mary lost against Marcos de Niza last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. St. Mary's fell just short of Marcos de Niza by a score of 6-5. The Knights' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

St. Mary's got a good showing from Meredith Schager, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Analysa Mejia was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kimber Milstead, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

St. Mary's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Marcos de Niza, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Mary's will face off against Arcadia at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Marcos de Niza, they will challenge South Mountain at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. South Mountain has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.82 runs per game on average), something Marcos de Niza will no doubt try to take advantage of.
