Basketball Game Preview: Rockwood Rockets vs. Forbes Road

The Rockwood Rockets will take on Forbes Road in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Rockwood, yet to win a game, are hoping to taste some of the success that has characterized Forbes Road's (thus far) undefeated season.

Rockwood is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They came up short against Windber on Friday, falling 78-52. The Rockets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-22.

Despite the defeat, Rockwood got top-tier performance from Zander Ritenour, who went 8 for 20 on his way to 23 points and eight steals. With that strong performance, Ritenour is now averaging an impressive 16.4 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Fazenbaker, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists.

Meanwhile, Forbes Road hadn't done well against Everett recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Forbes Road managed a 47-43 win over Everett. While Forbes Road didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Rockwood's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Forbes Road, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-0.
