Baseball Game Preview: Melissa Cardinals vs. Sherman Bearcats

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Melissa Cardinals duke it out with Sherman Bearcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Melissa's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Sherman's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Melissa barely beat Greenville the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Everything went Melissa's way against Greenville on Friday as Melissa made off with a 20-5 win. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won five games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Sherman hadn't done well against McKinney North recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Sherman had just enough and edged out McKinney North 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bearcats have posted against the Bulldogs since April 12, 2022.

The win made it two in a row for Melissa and bumps their season record up to 10-2-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Sherman, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-11-1.

Melissa couldn't quite finish off Sherman in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can Melissa avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
