Baseball Game Preview: Emmaus Hornets vs. Liberty Hurricanes

Emmaus hasn't had much luck against Liberty recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Emmaus will square off against Liberty at 4:00 p.m. Liberty took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Emmaus, who comes in off a win.

Emmaus is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over East Stroudsburg North on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Timberwolves: they've now won five in a row.

Aaron Fleetwood and Logan Ravier did most of the damage at the plate: Fleetwood scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Ravier scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Ravier also put up a hit, which was his first of the season. Josh Diaz was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Emmaus kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Liberty suffered their closest defeat since May 6, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of Hazleton Area by a score of 8-6. The Hurricanes haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Emmaus pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 9.6 runs this season. As for Liberty, their loss was their first of the season and also makes their record 4-1.

Emmaus couldn't quite get it done against Liberty in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-0. Can Emmaus avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
