Basketball Recap: Lincoln-Way East Comes Up Short

Lincoln-Way East lost against Homewood-Flossmoor back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The matchup between the Lincoln-Way East Griffins and the Homewood-Flossmoor Vikings didn't end well, with the Lincoln-Way East Griffins falling 80-64. While losing is never fun, the Griffins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while the Vikings are ranked sixth).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Homewood-Flossmoor to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jayden Tyler, who went 7-for-11 to rack up 24 points along with eight boards and six assists. That's the most assists Tyler has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brent Taylor, who went 10-for-13 en route to 23 points.

Lincoln-Way East's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 16-11. As for Homewood-Flossmoor, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 18 of their last 19 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 26-2 record this season.

Coming up, Lincoln-Way East will welcome Stagg at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lincoln-Way East is facing Stagg at the right time seeing as Stagg is stuck on a 27-game losing streak. As for Homewood-Flossmoor, they have already played their next game, a 69-63 defeat against Hillcrest on the 15th.
