Soccer Game Preview: Highlands vs. Swain County

The Highlands Highlanders will face off against the Swain County Maroon Devils at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Highlands has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with four straight losses, while Swain County will come in with eight straight victories.

Highlands managed to slip by Summit Charter the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Highlanders came up short against the Bears on Thursday, falling 10-2.

Meanwhile, Swain County kept a clean sheet against Hayesville last Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Yellowjackets with a sharp 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for Swain County, who have now won six contests by three goals or more so far this season.

Their offense was hitting Hayesville from everywhere, as seven different players booted in a goal. Mya Burrows-Kurr led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Swain County's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 30 goals over those five games. As for Highlands, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
