Soccer Game Preview: Haines City vs. Mulberry

The Haines City Hornets will head out to square off against the Mulberry Panthers at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Haines City's offense. They came up short against Lake Region on Thursday, falling 8-0. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 459th, while the Thunder are ranked 214th).

Meanwhile, Mulberry was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 6-0 to Bartow. The contest was a close 1-0 at the break, but unfortunately for the Panthers it sure didn't stay that way.

This is the second loss in a row for Haines City and nudges their season record down to 2-6. As for Mulberry, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Haines City came up short against Mulberry in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 3-1. Can Haines City avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
