Vela has gone 9-1 against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Vela Sabercats will challenge the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. Vela will be strutting in after a victory while Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial will be coming in after a defeat.

While losing is never fun, the Wolverines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 645th, while the Diamondbacks are ranked 160th).

Vela is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those four games. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-13.

Vela took their victory against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial when the teams last played back in January by a conclusive 8-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Vela since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
