Softball Recap: Santa Fe Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After only one run in their last match, Santa Fe made sure to put some runs up on the board against Cajon on Saturday. The Chiefs walked away with a 10-6 win over the Cowboys. Considering the Chiefs' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Saryah Razo made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off 11 hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one triple and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jazmine Pacheco, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Sophia Garcia was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two RBI.

Santa Fe moved to 7-9 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Cajon, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.

Santa Fe didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-0 loss against La Mirada on the 12th. As for Cajon, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 15-3 win against Redlands on the 15th.
