League recap: Jepsen dominating on the mound for Fallbrook

Avocado - West's top pitcher this week was Fallbrook's Matthew Jepsen. He won one game and struck out 13 batters.

The Warriors had a successful week, as they won four total games to lead the league. Fallbrook beat Canyon Crest Academy 4-0, Mt. Carmel 4-3 and McClatchy 14-10.

Rancho Buena Vista put just three batters on base with walks in the past week, but Carlsbad's pitching staff has had the best control this season, surrendering a walk only 17 times in 74 innings this year.

12 batters hit over .400 this week. Leading the pack was Alex Boyd, who hit .556 by going 5-for-9.

The week's strikeout crown belonged to Jepsen, who turned in 13 Ks for the Warriors. He's fourth in the league with 26 total strikeouts.



Kellen Sheppard threw a shutout as he led the Longhorns to victory over La Jolla Country Day, 1-0, on Wednesday. He pitched seven scoreless innings and struck out nine, while giving up four hits.

Madison's Ethan Abrams struck out ten La Costa Canyon hitters en route to a 3-2 victory on March 26. Over his six innings pitched he allowed three runs on seven hits.
