Volleyball Recap: Winchester Community's Run of 16 Straight Wins Now Over

It was a good run, but Winchester Community unfortunately witnessed the end of their 16-match winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against the Muncie Burris Owls, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Golden Falcons have suffered since November 2, 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-21, 25-12.

Auden Hummel paced Winchester Community's offense, picking up nine kills. Hummel got some help from Lyndi Whitenack and her 15 assists. Whitenack was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Leading Muncie Burris to victory were Piper Lanning and Amelia Howell. Lanning had 11 digs, while Howell had five digs and three aces.

Winchester Community's loss dropped their record down to 21-3. As for Muncie Burris, their victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Winchester Community will take on Cambridge City Lincoln at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Muncie Burris, they will square off against New Castle at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
