Basketball Game Preview: Hoover Huskies vs. Elk Valley Christian Eagles

The Hoover Huskies will face off against the Elk Valley Christian Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Hoover was handed a 36-point defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They skirted past Lincoln County 52-49.

Hoover's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ayva Veltri, who posted 20 points and three steals. Hoover is 4-1 when Veltri posts 20 or more points, but 2-9 otherwise. Bella Haas was another key player, putting up six points in addition to six boards and five assists.

Meanwhile, Elk Valley Christian took their contest on Monday with ease, bagging a 51-20 victory over Calvary Baptist Academy. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 25 points or more this season.

Elk Valley Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.9 points over those games. As for Hoover, their win bumped their record up to 6-10.

Hoover was able to grind out a solid victory over Elk Valley Christian when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 45-34. Does Hoover have another victory up their sleeve, or will Elk Valley Christian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
