Basketball Game Preview: West Carroll Thunder vs. Scales Mound Hornets

West Carroll is 0-10 against Scales Mound since January of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The West Carroll Thunder will host the Scales Mound Hornets at 7:15 p.m.

Last Wednesday, West Carroll lost to Warren on the road by a 68-52 margin. While losing is never fun, the Thunder can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 678th, while the Warriors are ranked 278th).

Meanwhile, Scales Mound beat Galena 56-46 on Wednesday.

Scales Mound's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-9. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points per game. As for West Carroll, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.

West Carroll took a serious blow against Scales Mound in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 66-22. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point West Carroll was down 35-7.
