Soccer Game Preview: Evergreen Park vs. Shepard

Evergreen Park is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Shepard a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Thursday. The Evergreen Park Mustangs will welcome the Shepard Astros at 6:00 p.m. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Last Saturday, Evergreen Park came up short against Providence Catholic and fell 3-1. While losing is never fun, Evergreen Park can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 245th, while Providence Catholic are ranked 34th).

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Shepard's offense. They fell 2-0 to Reavis on Tuesday.

Evergreen Park's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Shepard, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8-1.

Evergreen Park beat Shepard by a goal in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 1-0. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Astros have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
