Baseball Recap: Union City Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Union City, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Cambridge City Lincoln Golden Eagles on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Golden Eagles: they've now won eight in a row.

Caleb Lutz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Lutz wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brennan Hoggatt, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Hoggatt is becoming a predictor of Union City's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-9 when he doesn't). Luke Collins was another, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Union City's record is now 7-9. As for Cambridge City Lincoln, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.

Union City has already played their next contest, an 11-0 loss against Knightstown on the 16th. As for Cambridge City Lincoln, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 6-5 win against Centerville on the 16th.
