Merit Preparatory Academy skates past Intermountain Christian with ease

The Merit Preparatory Academy Knights scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They blew past Intermountain Christian 79-48 at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Merit Preparatory Academy has posted since December 14, 2023.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Merit Preparatory Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Miles Petersen, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Petersen is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. Allan Mendonca was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Intermountain Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Keaton Okino. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points. Okino is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for four games straight. Another player making a difference was David Reist, who scored 12 points.

Merit Preparatory Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-12 record this season. As for Intermountain Christian, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.

Merit Preparatory Academy will head out on the road to challenge Rockwell at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rockwell knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matchups -- so hopefully Merit Preparatory Academy likes a good challenge. As for Intermountain Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Freedom Prep Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Freedom Prep Academy is ranked 139th, while Intermountain Christian is ranked 138th).
