Baseball Game Preview: Sayreville Bombers vs. South Amboy Governors

The Sayreville Bombers are taking a road trip to square off against the South Amboy Governors at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither Sayreville nor South Amboy posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Sayreville fell victim to Edison and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. The defeat continues a trend for the Bombers in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, South Amboy came up short against Kennedy Memorial on Thursday and fell 4-1. The Governors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

South Amboy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Vaughn Pelkey, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Pelkey has snagged this season.

Sayreville's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for South Amboy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.

Sayreville skirted past South Amboy 4-2 in their previous meeting back in May of 2019. Will the Bombers repeat their success, or do the Governors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
