Basketball Recap: Edison Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Edison can now relate to. They were dealt a 67-30 defeat at the hands of the West Muskingum Tornadoes on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Wildcats have suffered since November 27, 2023.

Despite the defeat, Edison saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Abby Carpenter dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds. Carpenter is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Even though they lost, Edison smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Edison has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-7 record this season. The victory made it two in a row for West Muskingum and bumps their season record up to 16-7.

Edison does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for West Muskingum, they have already played their next game, a 54-26 loss against Tuscarawas Valley on the 22nd.
