Preview: Westmoreland Eagles vs. Marion County Warriors

Westmoreland is 0-5 against Marion County since November of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Westmoreland Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Marion County Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Friday, Westmoreland never let their opponents score. They blew past Trousdale County 37-0 on the road. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Westmoreland had established a 21 point advantage.

Meanwhile, Marion County put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 42-9 win over Cascade. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 27-3.

Marion County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but EJ Wilson led the charge by rushing for 68 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. Brody Leonard and his 102 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Marion County's win.

Marion County's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Ashton Martin and his three sacks.

The win makes it two in a row for Westmoreland and bumps their season record up to 5-5. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 25.5 points. As for Marion County, their victory was their sixth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 10-0.

Westmoreland suffered a grim 28-7 defeat to Marion County when the teams last played back in November of 2021. Can Westmoreland avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
