Basketball Recap: West Lincoln Starts Season with Victory Against North Gaston + How To Watch

West Lincoln had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the North Gaston Wildcats, sneaking past 46-44. The win almost wasn't to be: the Rebels were down 33-15 in the second quarter.

Quinlyn Avery had an outrageously good game as she dropped a double-double with 22 points and 16 rebounds. Her big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 22 points. Another player making a difference was Payton Hood, who posted eight points.

West Lincoln smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, North Gaston still got an impressive performance from Jaleila Littlejohn, who dropped a double-double with 27 points and 11 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ranya Watkins, who had 11 points and six boards.

North Gaston's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

West Lincoln wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 45-38 victory against Patton on the 21st. As for North Gaston, they have also already played their next matchup, a 62-40 win against Cherryville on the 20th.
