Softball Game Preview: Holland Hornets vs. Bremond Tigers

The Holland Hornets are taking a road trip to take on the Bremond Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Holland's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Bremond's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Holland is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Thorndale just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 7-6.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bremond, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They blew past Chilton 15-0 on Tuesday. Considering the Tigers have won six games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Charlye Martin was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Addyson Young was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Addison Campbell, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.

Bremond pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.2 runs over those games. As for Holland, their loss dropped their record down to 17-6.

Holland skirted past Bremond 11-10 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
