Basketball Game Preview: Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets vs. Houston County Bears

The Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets will challenge the Houston County Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Thomas County Central is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Coffee on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Thomas County Central took a blow against Coffee, falling 63-22. The match marked the Yellow Jackets' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Chan Dunbar, who posted seven points. The team also got some help courtesy of Adelle Ganga, who earned four points.

Even though they lost, Thomas County Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 22 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Houston County opened the new year with a less-than-successful 45-35 loss to Northside. The Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Houston County's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Thomas County Central, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.

Thomas County Central strolled past Houston County in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a score of 57-43. Will Thomas County Central repeat their success, or does Houston County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
