Baseball Recap: Whitmire Comes Up Short

Whitmire saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brian Steele, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Dalton Williams also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

As for American Leadership Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 13-11. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the game before.

On American Leadership Academy's side, Gavin Bates tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Bates has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Joseph Davis, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of American Leadership Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 10-11 when he doesn't).

Whitmire does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for American Leadership Academy, they will head out to challenge Brookland-Cayce at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
