Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Hagerstown

After losing to Union County the last time they met, Hagerstown decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Hagerstown Tigers came out on top against the Union County Patriots by a score of 52-39 on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for the Tigers who have now won three matches in a row.

Hagerstown's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Landon Lawson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. With that strong performance, Lawson is now averaging an impressive 8.2 rebounds per game. Isaac Schmitz was another key player, going 7 for 16 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds.

Union County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Logan Boone, who posted ten points in addition to five assists and three steals. Boone has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Grady Coyle, who put up 14 points and six boards.

Hagerstown now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Union County, they now have a losing record at 1-2.

Hagerstown wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 68-50 defeat against Wapahani on the 14th. Union County and Winchester Community will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on December 20th. Winchester Community is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.2 points per game this season.
