Softball Recap: Alameda Comes Up Short

Alameda suffered their biggest defeat since March 4th on Wednesday. They came up short against the James Logan Colts, falling 7-1. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Alameda got a good showing from Kaylee Huey, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That one hit allowed gave Huey a new career-low.

At the plate, Alameda saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alissa Smitheram, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Alameda's loss dropped their record down to 8-7-1. As for James Logan, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-2-1.

Alameda and James Logan should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Hornets will square off against Berkeley at 4:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (158 vs. 551). Meanwhile, James Logan (ranked 97th) will meet Kennedy (ranked 427th) at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
