Football Recap: Stony Point Comes Up Short

Stony Point extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 2-3. They were outmatched by the McNeil Mavericks and fell 56-21. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 55-30 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Stony Point's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marcus Milligan, who rushed for 102 yards and a pair of scores. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Troyer, who threw for 298 yards and one TD while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt.

As for McNeil, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-2. That 35 point margin sets a new team best for them this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead McNeil to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jadon Sultz, who threw for 238 yards and four touchdowns on only 17 passes, and also rushed for 43 yards. The dominant performance also gave Sultz a new career-high in passer rating (152.6). Another player making a difference was Zylen Hall, who gained 177 total yards and a touchdown.
