Softball Recap: Oakwood Takes a Loss

Fans were treated to a battle of the Panthers on Tuesday. Oakwood came up short against Normangee, falling 18-7. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Normangee this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 back in March.

Abbie Hamill made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Emma Neel was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Oakwood has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Normangee, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-14.

Coming up, Oakwood will take on Leon at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.35 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Normangee, they will face off against Centerville at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. The Panthers are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a 15-game losing streak.
