Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Douglas). They blew past the Amphitheater Panthers 45-14 on Friday. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Bulldogs had established a 23-point advantage.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Douglas to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ivan Higuera, who threw for 267 yards and three touchdowns on only 18 passes, and also rushed for 30 yards and one score. That's the most passing touchdowns Higuera has posted since back in November of 2024. Davian Fimbres was in the mix as well, providing Douglas with two TDs.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Douglas proved: they limited Amphitheater to a paltry 1.8 yards per carry. The team can thank Matthew Hudson for the heroic effort on defense: he. Douglas' ground attack was stronger, having averaged five.

Douglas didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Fimbres, Gerardo Burgos Jr, and Cesar Gaxiola picked up one apiece.

Douglas' record is now 4-2. As for Amphitheater, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

Douglas has already played their next game, a 42-7 defeat against Sahuaro on the 17th. As for Amphitheater, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 41-0 loss against Mica Mountain on the 17th.
