Basketball Game Preview: Victory Christian Academy Storm vs. Haines City Hornets

The Victory Christian Academy Storm will take on the Haines City Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Victory Christian Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their match two weeks ago with ease, bagging a 66-20 win over Lake Placid. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-9.

Bianca Barroso was her usual excellent self, going 6 of 10 on her way to 12 points in addition to six boards and five steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alana Thomas, who went 5 for 10 on her way to 10 points.

Victory Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Placid only posted two assists.

Meanwhile, Haines City can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. Everything went their way against Lake Wales as Haines City made off with a 48-28 victory. The Hornets pushed the score to 37-15 by the end of the third, a deficit the Highlanders cut but never quite recovered from.

Victory Christian Academy pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.7 points per game. As for Haines City, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.
