Football Recap: Mascoutah Comes Up Short

Mascoutah and Bloomington squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Mascoutah had to settle for second. They were dealt a 57-26 defeat at the hands of the Purple Raiders. The Indians were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-6.

Mascoutah's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jack Hilgendorf, who threw for 195 yards and one TD, and Jordan Beck, who picked up 158 receiving yards and one score. Camren Reed got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Ky'Veon Chestnut had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 315 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 9.5 yards per carry for Bloomington. Those 315 rushing yards gave Chestnut a new career-high.

Mascoutah's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-4. As for Bloomington, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-3.

Mascoutah does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bloomington, they will square off against Oak Forest at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bengals' defense has only allowed 14.1 points per game this season, so the Purple Raiders' offense will have their work cut out for them.
