Recap: Timnath Cubs vs. Resurrection Christian Cougars
The Timnath Cubs kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They were beaten by Resurrection Christian 61-29. Timnath was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-18.
Timnath's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ayslee Stone, who scored 6 points. Olivia Zadeh was another key contributor, scoring 8 points.
Timnath struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Resurrection Christian pulled down 12.
Resurrection Christian can attribute much of their success to Mackenzie Flikkema, who scored 16 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Callie Gillespie, who scored 10 points along with 7 rebounds.
Timnath's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Resurrection Christian, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Timnath will take on Arrupe Jesuit at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Resurrection Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Jefferson Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
