Basketball Recap: Chestnut Ridge Comes Up Short

Chestnut Ridge was the 78-76 winner over Forest Hills when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Chestnut Ridge Lions came up short against the Forest Hills Rangers on Friday, falling 78-54. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 205th, while the Rangers are ranked 31st).

Forest Hills' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dylan Stohon, who almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine rebounds. The game was Stohon's 14th in a row with at least ten points. Brandon Gregovich was another key player, going 8 of 13 en route to 18 points along with eight boards and four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Chestnut Ridge and nudges their season record down to 10-6. As for Forest Hills, their victory was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chestnut Ridge will square off against Bishop McCort at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Bishop McCort's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine matchups. As for Forest Hills, they will challenge Richland at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Forest Hills is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 69.6 points per game this season.
