Basketball Recap: Griffin Guernsey's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Crossroads Charter Academy over Walkerville

Crossroads Charter Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They took a 39-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Walkerville Wildcats. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 39-34.

Crossroads Charter Academy's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Griffin Guernsey, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Guernsey a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Remmey Carnes, who posted seven points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Crossroads Charter Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.1 assists per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 8.2.

Crossroads Charter Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Walkerville, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-10.

Coming up, Crossroads Charter Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Bear Lake at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Walkerville, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats challenge the Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
