Baseball Recap: Eastern Takes a Loss

Eastern made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Scottsburg, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Musketeers fell just short of the Warriors and Warriorettes by a score of 7-5 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Musketeers have suffered since March 31st.

Trenton Friedmeyer made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Eastern's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 4-9 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Johnny Anderson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.

Eastern has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Scottsburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.

Eastern will challenge Crothersville at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Scottsburg, they will square off against Borden at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
