Softball Recap: Model Secondary School for the Deaf Takes a Loss

Model Secondary School for the Deaf extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping their season record down to 2-7 in the process. They came up short against California School for the Deaf, falling 12-2. The match marked Model Secondary School for the Deaf's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

As for California School for the Deaf, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-2. Considering they have won ten contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

For California School for the Deaf's part, Julianna Hammons was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hammons has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Geneva Brock, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Estreya Juarez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Model Secondary School for the Deaf wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 15-5 defeat against Indiana School for the Deaf on the 25th. As for California School for the Deaf, they have also already played their next game, a 13-3 loss against Texas School for the Deaf on the 25th.
