Softball Recap: Bloomfield Extends Winning Streak to Five

Bloomfield came tearing into Thursday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Eastern Greene Thunderbirds. While the Cardinals didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Gwenavere Klun was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Lailey Smith, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Bloomfield's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Eastern Greene, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Coming up, Bloomfield will face off against North Knox at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Cardinals have won four straight at home dating back to last season, while the Warriors won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Eastern Greene, they will challenge Monrovia at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
